about counselling
People come to counselling for many different reasons:
Talking to a counsellor can help us to gain insight into our feelings and identify new outlooks and ideas to help live a more satisfying life.
how might counselling help?
Counselling involves talking freely and honestly about what concerns you most. (Counsellors also respect areas that a client may not wish to talk about). This in itself can be enormously helpful – a chance to talk about experiences and express feelings in an accepting environment.
Counselling also offers an opportunity to explore the areas that feel uncomfortable in your life and consider some ways you could make changes.
The counseling process also involves exploring patterns of feelings and behaviour plus considering new perspectives and identifying available options. My approach is flexible and creative to meet the needs of the people I work with.
I have experience of working with people across a wide cross-section of society. People I work with find that they can build up trust and rapport with me quickly.
I have a special interest in areas linked to difference or minority groups as well as working with trauma (adult trauma, teenage trauma or childhood trauma).
Currently I am using Zoom or WhatsApp for sessions. It is also possible to arrange sessions outdoors. I am reviewing this and will offer face to face appointments again as soon as this is safe and practical for myself and others.
Next available appointments: Monday 3.30, 4.45, 6pm; Wednesday 2.15pm ; Thursday 3.45 & 5pm
